Muddy Branch Trail

The Muddy Branch trail follows the stream from Malcolm King Park in Gaithersburg to Pennyfield Lock on the Potomac River. It’s an ambitious day hike, but there is a series of access points so it can be hiked in segments. This map shows the path of the trail and highlights key features like access points, parking areas, and places where the trail crosses roads and streams. The trail is open to everyone. Get out and enjoy it!

A student from Gaithersburg High School created this wonderful map of the Muddy Branch watershed, including the location of the Muddy Branch Trail, both within the City of Gaithersburg and to the Potomac through the County park land.

Trail extending from Gaithersburg to the Potomac River.
